How to become accredited

To be recognized, organizations need to identify the need for recognition and prepare the necessary conditions in accordance with the relevant international standards.
After that, organizations apply for recognition with the accreditation body for review, assessment, and recognition if they meet the required conditions, as specified in the following guidelines.
1. Identify the program to be accredited.
First, the organization needs to clearly identify the area of its operations that requires accreditation, for example:
- Testing and calibration laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025).
- Product, process, or service certification bodies (ISO/IEC 17065; ISO/IEC 17021, ISO/IEC 17024, ISO/IEC 17029, ISO 27001, etc.).
- Inspection bodies (ISO/IEC 17020).
- Medical laboratories (ISO 15189).
- Proficiency testing providers (ISO/IEC 17043).
- Reference material producers (ISO 17034).
- Laboratories following GLP-OECD principles.
2. Establish and operate conformity assessment activities.
- Establish machinery, equipment, and environmental conditions to support conformity assessment activities.
- Develop and improve the quality management system (quality manual, procedures, operational documents, etc.).
- Train personnel to ensure professional competence meets the requirements.
- Establish and control documents and records related to professional activities.
3. Register for accreditation with the Bureau of Accreditation.
After completing the quality management system, the organization needs to submit an accreditation application, including:

- Documentation describing the quality management system.
- Records related to technical competence and conformity assessment activities.
4. Review application documents and conduct an initial assessment
The Bureau of Accreditation will review the application and conduct an initial assessment to evaluate the completeness and suitability of the quality management system. If necessary, the organization may be required to provide additional information or make revisions to the documents.
5. On-site assessment
A team of experts will be assigned to conduct an on-site assessment to:
- Review the implementation of testing, calibration, certification, and inspection processes.
- Evaluate the professional competence of personnel.
- Verify the objectivity and consistency of the organization's operations.
6. Correct and improve (if necessary)
If any nonconformities are identified, the organization will be required to take corrective actions within the specified timeframe and report back to the Bureau of Accreditation.
7. Issuance of the accreditation certificate
After the organization has fulfilled all requirements, the Bureau of Accreditation will issue an accreditation certificate, confirming that the organization fully complies with the applicable international standards.

Benefits of being a BoA accredited organisation
The Bureau of Accreditation (BoA) accredits organizations engaged in activities such as testing and calibration laboratories, inspection bodies, certification bodies, medical laboratories, proficiency testing providers, and reference material producers for their products and services. This provides consumers with the necessary confidence to make safe, healthy, and reliable choices.
Choosing to become an organization accredited by BoA offers several competitive advantages for your business.
Accreditation contributes to the promotion of international trade. Once accredited, the results of conformity assessment activities (certification, testing, inspection) are recognized by other countries, thereby facilitating the import and export of goods.
Accreditation enhances the reliability of products, goods, and services, as they are inspected and assessed by competent organizations.
In order to be accredited, organizations must establish, maintain, and continuously improve their conformity assessment activities in accordance with international standards. Therefore, accreditation helps ensure the competence of conformity assessment bodies.
Accreditation increases the trustworthiness of conformity assessment results, enabling outcomes achieved in one location to be accepted in many others.
Accreditation helps reduce compliance costs for businesses by eliminating the need to repeat testing or assessment activities.
